Sleep

Kelly and Dad their favorite position. Kelly will hop up on Dad's lap as soon as he sit down. In fact she chooses to sleep on his lap over mine. Can you find the TV controls in the picture? He likes to keep it real close. Sometimes it is fun to see if we can get away from without him waking up. Let me tell you he always wakes up when we try. If we ever get the controls it would be like taking his power away from him :-) Gotta love the picture and he didn't even wake up when I took it. Now I will see what he says when he read the blog. Love ya hon.

SNOW

At least 4 more inches of snow do I need to say more.

Lexi's choir concert

Last night, Lexi had a choir concert. Sorry it's a little dark, but the lights were off. She is right in the front in the middle (on the director's right). They sang two songs they have prepared to sing in a festival next week. Last night was a practice concert so they could be more ready to perform for the festival. Lexi just got into choir at the beginning of the semester. She loves it. One of the songs they did was in German. They learned it in 3 weeks. I thought that was pretty good.

Happy Birthday Jaxson!

So this is a week late, but he deserves his attention like my other kids. He was so excited for his birthday. It's all I heard about for the whole month before hand. Once he was officially five he told me that he was going to kindergarten school now. I told him he couldn't go until next year and that he'd have to keep going to preschool. He got upset and said very sternly to me, "But I'm five!" Like that meant he automatically got to go to kindergarten. He's such a character.

Daddy Daughter dance

Last Friday the elementary school held a daddy daughter dance. Charlie took them before he had to go to Saginaw for the wrestling individual regionals tournament. The girls were so excited to go with him. I'm so glad he was able to take them. They had a blast and looked so cute!

This is Charlie and Makayla dancing. Charlie taught her how to swing.

Temple

The roads were great on the way to the temple. There was only one spot in WV and that county is having school for the first time today since we got all this snow.

The Washington DC temple Solemn Assembly room is huge. Dad thinks that 1200 to 1500 people could fit into it. It's sad we had only about 80 from out stake. It is a beautiful as the rest of the temple. I guess each stake has the opportunity to meet in the room about every 10 years or so.

The childrens spring break may change, like not have one to make up for the days that have been missed. All of the county schools are trying to get it all worked out. I hope to know in a week so I can make my plans for spring break.

SCHOOL!!

Yes the kids are all off to school today. I think that all of them were happy to go back to school.
Here is a picture of our eves. We have a heater in it put the down spout would freeze so Dad unhooked the down spout and this is some of the ice that has formed. I was funny when the kids went outside they would get a drink of the water that was dripping. In the picture I hope you can tell that the SUN is SHINNING!! No snow last night not even a dusting.

I hope our trip to the temple is good tomorrow for we get to go over the mountains and many people say that is not a good trip in the winter. We will be having a meeting in the temple on the top floor, what do they call that room? Why can't I remember? Darn. Anyway we have never had this type of opportunity before and are looking forward to it.

Another Day?

No school yet this week. Only two days left, will they make it, good question. Many of the people that have lived down here most of their life said that this is the worst that they have seen it in 17 years. The roads down here are not built for what a cold hard winter can do to them, for the roads that are plowed you can see the pot holes. Busy main roads are just full of them, so with the narrow roads and then the snow piled up on the side trying to miss those holes is SO much fun :-))

Happy Birthday Lexi

Lexi turned 13 yesterday! I can't believe it. She is going to have a few friends over on Saturday and watch the movies Twilight and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix since she couldn't watch them until she was 13. She's pretty excited and we're pretty excited for her too.

Sorry the image is so dark. Our lights in that room are on the dim side.

New glasses

Lexi and Makayla got their new glasses today. We thought everyone would like to see what they look like. Makayla is so excited to have glasses. Now Chelsea and Jaxson want them too. I'm sure they will have them some day.

Charlie's team won districts

Lastnight, Charlie's team won districts. They beat Carmen-Ainsworth and Flushing (of all schools) Of course he is pretty excited, but I have mixed emotions. It just means the season will go on for a little longer. I am glad for him though, and that he was able to be a part of it. Tomorrow is district individuals in Bay City. I'll let you know how that goes.

A whole WEEK plus one

The children have not had school all week and I just got the call that there is no school tomorrow. On top of that Monday is an in structural day so they don't have to go then either. But I have been very thankful they have been better than usual.

I had been thinking that it would be nice to have the dishwasher working but then I would I have not had the opportunity to hear a grandchild say that "Grandma Rocks" while we were doing dishes together. The children take turns helping with dishes each night and it gives me an opportunity to spend some one on one time with them. (Believe me no one else comes into the kitchen when there is dishes to do) It is very seldom that they complain any more about helping out and it so nice. They know their days to help out in fact sometimes Tasha starts them before I have finished eating.

Well enough about things here. I seems to be rambling on, I think I need to get out of the house!

Gotta love snow days!

We did end up with a snow day. We are all pretty excited. Here are Merrit and Chelsea out in the snow. Makayla is out there too somewhere, but I took this picture from the window. I wasn't about to go out myself (although I will have to at some point to shovel the driveway).

As you can see from this picture. The driveway is in huge need of being shoveled, since you can't even see where it is. In this picture you should be able to see the top of the circular drive. Alas, you cannot. I like how much snow is on the car too. It kind of gives a good indicator of how much we have. I'm not sure what the official measurement is. We had about 4 inches before we went to sleep lastnight. I dont' think it is the 10 inches they were predicting though.

I think the goats are probably the only ones who don't appreciate this snow. Look how deep it goes up on their legs. They have been staying in their lean-to most of the time.

It is still snowing a little, but the wind has picked up a lot and it is bitter cold now with the wind chill. The kids didn't stay out long because of it. Oh well, I'm sure they'll go back out later. I love snow days. Especially when I don't have anything I need to do.

Merrit's birthday

Thought I'd share with you a video of us singing to Merrit tonight. Wish you could've been here in person though.

Fun time

So Makayla had this funny idea tonight, that I should take a picture of someone's eye and put it on the blog to see if anyone could guess who it belonged to. So here are a couple of eyes for you to name. Hope you have fun!

ANOTHER snow blast!

This is looking out our back door onto our patio.

This is a little stand on our patio. I should take a yard stick out and measure the amount. The little indents behind the stand is our steps going up to our next level of yard.
This is a tree on the side of the house but look at the car at the trunk of the tree. The grill is almost covered. Yes we have at least 14 inches of snow here. It has snowed more since this picture was taken. Chuck and I have cleaned the drive way once already today. The branches are hanging low and some of the neighbors bushes are broken down.

We were without power for 3 hours this morning. One thing I will do is pick up my kerosene heater when I go back to MI. We are glad that it was only 3 hours. We know that there will be no church tomorrow because of the roads around here. It stopped snowing around 2:50 pm

My Day

Here is a couple of pictures to show you what I do through out the day to keep me busy. It's nice to be using up some of my scrap material.

There is six rows in the quilt and six blocks in each row. Each block has 8 peddles on the flower. I am quilting around each peddle, with the goal to do one row each week. First two weeks I have made my goal. It is so nice to have the room to set up a quilting frame and a wonderful friend who let me borrow hers. This way if I only want to a couple of stitches I can or I can set and do it for hours. We don't use our living room so it can set there and it is out of every ones way.
What has been an added blessing is that sometimes when I'm quilting the grandchildren join me. I have a tall stool that they set on and they talk to me, read to me or just set and play while I'm working. I enjoy those precious moments a lot. Wish that I could spend moments like that with more of my grandchildren.
