Merry Christmas to Me!!!

This past week I received an early Christmas present...I was asked to teach 4th grade for the rest of the year!!!!!!! It is still only a sub job, but is is an everyday sub job. I'm really looking forward to this opportunity. I'm hoping that this will be a foot in the door and improve my chances of getting a full-time job next year.

Refinishing question

For anyone who has been to and seen my house, here's a question for you. Charlie is busy refinishing our master bathroom. Currently there is a door from our bedroom into the bathroom and then also one from the family room into the bathroom. We are debating whether or not to take out the door from the family room and just have the bathroom be a true master bathroom with only access from the master bedroom. What are your opinions?

Charlie update

Charlie had 3 interviews on Thursday. The first one was for a teaching position in Kalamazoo. The principal he worked with at Beecher got a principal position there and wanted Charlie to come work with him. Charlie pretty much did the interview to be accommodating. We don't really plan on moving there for just a teaching position. Then he drove down to Three Oaks, MI for another interview. That one is for an assistant principal position. He feels like he did fairly well in that interview. Then on the drive home he did an interview over the phone for another position in WV. Today he was called back and asked to do a second interview at Three Oaks on Tuesday next week. He really liked that school and was hoping for a call back. He's pretty excited to have gotten one. It would be nice for him to get a different position, especially an administration position, but I am not excited to have to move and we would need to for that job since it's about three hours away. So I have mixed feelings. I'll keep you posted on how it goes. Prayers on Charlie's behalf would be great. Thanks!

Decorate

Over Memorial Day weekend mom painted some shutters and finally got her and dad's Christmas present hung up. We are all pleased with how it turned out and there is room for more pictures.

And then last week I painted the fireplace since it was the same yucky color that the family room used to be. It matches the door across the room. I absolutely love the contrast against the brick!!!

Today Charlie got called to be the young men's president again. Third times' a charm, right?

My internship...

I got the position today. Glad to have the chance to get the experience, disappointed that they want me to work four days instead of three. Was looking forward to having to work less days, but I'll take what I can get. Thanks for the prayers.

2nd interview

Had a 2nd interview today for the internship I interviewed for last week. Met the CFO this time. She seemed pretty sure I'd be getting the position and be starting on Monday. She said she's let me know for sure by the end of the week. She said it will only be a part time position, only working about 3 days a week. This way I can get some good experience and still spend time with the kids and Charlie. I may miss some stuff this summer, but not as much as I had originally thought. I feel much better about that.

Another interview

Just got finished with another interview. This was with the company Northgate. They are a packaging and distribution company. One of my college professors is married to the CEO of this company and he suggested I apply. I think it went really well. I should know by the end of next week what they decide. I'll keep you posted. I have mixed feelings about this internship. It would give me great experience, but I will miss lots of fun stuff this summer if I get it. I kind of hope I don't get it.

The Crim

My friend, June, convinced me to run the 5K with her at the Crim this August. So I started getting back into shape this morning. It's probably good for me to have a goal to work towards. I was having a hard time finding motivation to exercise. This will be good for me. The Crim is a marathon that takes place in Flint every August. I'm sure it will be super hot that day too, just for me.

Unbelievable...

So I did something at church yesterday that I never thought I would do.... I broke up a fight, a fist fight between two women. Really long story, but no one was terribly injured. I sure hope it doesn't happen EVER again. On a happier note, I took two exams today and I know I have 100% on the first one and I'm pretty confident I did well on the second one. Two down, three more to go. I'm most worried about the one I have Wednesday night, so any prayers you could offer on my behalf would be greatly appreciated. I'm almost done, I'm almost done....

Happy Birthday Merrit!

I can't believe how old he is now! He's had a pretty good birthday so far, so school due to the snow. And tomorrow he gets to go to his first church dance in Westland. Now how's that for a great birthday! He's such a great kid. We are so blessed to have him in our family.

Back to the grind...

Well my classes started again, yesterday, and I'm already behind. Was supposed to have read 2 chapters for one class and 1 chapter for another before class tomorrow. Didn't have a chance to today. Hopefully I'll be able to make some kind of dent in it tomorrow morning before class. This semester I'm only on campus Mondays and Wednesdays, but I'm there the whole day. I think it will be better than going to campus four days a week like I did last semester. I applied for graduation today. It still doesn't seem real yet. I've been in school for so long that I don't know what life will be like afterward. Weird!

Great pictures everyone! Thanks for participating. I'm officially finished for the semester. I think I've pulled an A in all my classes. There is one I'm a little if-y on because I did pretty poorly on the final exam. But at the worst I should only get a B in that class because I did well the rest of the semester. Now I have 2 weeks of no school. I won't really call it a break, because it's not really going to be with all the other stuff I have going on, but at least I won't have school to worry about on top of that. Looking forward to seeing most of you in another week! Yeah!! I love the holidays surrounded by family!!

Trying to lean how to quilt projects. Regular sewing is so much eaiser. I have been quiling for the last 4 hours, my shoulder feels it, but I enjoy the finish project. Take care need to get ready for the church Christmas dinner. My apple crisp is smelling so good. I could leave it home and eat it all by myself but that wouldn't happen around here. lol

Thought I would get in on the game, sounds like fun! I have many picture folders on my computer and because I find myself having time, I have chosen to pick the 4th picture from many of the folders.

I do believe this was my last zone conference on my mission. Here I am with one of my favorite companions, Corley Griffin (Newburn), and some of my favorite Elders (Grimmer and Potter).

On Our way back from the Manti Pagenant and I said that Ambrey wouldn't be able to fit her butt in between the roof and the head rest. She proved me wrong by putting her butt on my head.

4th Picture

Since I have about 30 folders with pictures on my computer, I chose the fourth folder, fourth picture.  It was a from this summer when we were visiting Florida from Nevada and Beth brought Luke to be blessed.  Kira came as well and I sat all of the kids under my magnolia tree to take their picture.

I remembered the Hutchinson-side did this a couple years ago and I thought it was fun. I should be studying right now, but this is more fun. I've got folders of pictures so I'm going to pick the first picture of the fourth folder, the fourth picture of the fourth folder and the fourth single picture. This is a picture of us working on our pumpkins that we carved this year. This is us still working on pumpkins. Our family discovered over the summer that we enjoy frisbee golf. This is a picture of us after we finished a course by our house. Can't wait to see all of your photos. We should do this again only with later pictures (and I think I'll do it from my desktop too. I have way more pictures on there than the laptop).
